What you’ll do
Working in the Engineering department of our Technical Service Group, the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the following primary duties:
For you this will be a hands-on coding role working as a key member of a cross-functional team, alongside other Developers, Designers and Quality Engineers. We’re working on the development of our next generation learning platform and solutions utilising the latest web technologies. The role will involve a mix of working on new feature development, POCs, rapid prototyping and architectural improvements.
You will possess advanced coding capabilities, be a natural problem solver who is focussed on quality, with the ability to communicate enthusiastically, clearly and concisely to other Engineers as well as with other HMH functional teams. As a senior contributor your work will involve presentations to senior management and stakeholders along with mentoring of more junior team members.

Specifically
  • You will contribute to the collective ownership & delivery of UI design, development and maintenance.
  • You will contribute to the development of our engineering culture and ever-improving concept of engineering best practices.
  • You will have a proven understanding of project tracking and agile development methodologies.
Technology Stack
You'll work with modern Web technologies such as ECMAScript6, ReactJS, Node/NPM, Jenkins, GIT

What you’ll need
  • Degree/Master’s in Computer Science or relevant discipline OR equivalent work experience
  • Expert working knowledge of modern JavaScript language features, frameworks and libraries
  • Many years’ professional experience delivering great User Experiences
  • Experience using testing frameworks
  • Working knowledge of Agile teams and methodologies
